Sustainability
The vision of a new San Juan Waterfront was built upon the principles of sustainable design, which attempts to minimize greenhouse gas emissions, reduce global warming, preserve environmental resources, enhance the natural beauty of Puerto Rico’s landscape and climate, and create communities that allow people to reach their fullest potential. Through climate-conscious urban and landscape design, construction of LEED-certified buildings, and the integration of public transit, the San Juan Waterfront could be almost carbon neutral. As planning continues and development commences, additional green concepts will be realized.
